Thank you for your interest in Sleepy Hollow Performing Artists, Westchester’s most cutting-edge studio and performance company. SHPA is home to a staff of professional and talented dancers, actors, singers, directors, writers, and musicians with master-level training and teaching experience. We all share a desire to teach in a positive and caring atmosphere. Our space is comprised of two spacious dance studios equipped with free-floating sprung Marley professional floors, barres, mirrors, and a professional sound system; a voice and music room; an office; lobby; and two handicapped-accessible bathrooms. The parking area is next to the studio. We are dedicated to promoting individual self-esteem and to the training of performing artists. SHPA is a place for artists to collaborate and create. We keep our class sizes limited so that we may give each student personal attention, meticulous instruction in technique, and the tools necessary to grow as people and artists. Our goal is to challenge each student to reach for their personal star. Debralyn Press, Artistic Director and Founder, is a lifelong professional performer and has been a teacher for over 20 years. In addition to a career as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, actor, and director, Debralyn has a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a MSW and MS (Dance Therapy) from Hunter College. Drawing on her extensive stage experience and hands-on teaching skills, Debralyn has crafted a comprehensive program where all students learn in an emotionally safe, technically sound, and stimulating environment. Debralyn personally oversees all teaching and programming and is aware of and involved in every student’s development and progress. In addition to training as dancers, singers, actors, and choreographers, our students receive training in auditioning, professional demeanor, and technical work for stage. Students in our classes and companies have numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year in large scale productions, at community events, and in smaller showcases. Sleepy Hollow Performing Artists is a 501(c)3 organization and a Westchester Arts Council Affiliate. We have performed nationally and internationally and on television and radio.
